What are the early symptoms of glaucoma, and how is it treated?

Glaucoma usually develops very quietly, so many people don’t notice anything in the early stages.

Possible early signs:

  • Slow loss of side (peripheral) vision

  • Slight blurring of vision

  • Difficulty seeing in low light

In advanced cases, symptoms may include

  • Intense eye pain

  • Headache, nausea

  • Halos around lights

How it’s treated:

  • Medicated eye drops to reduce eye pressure

  • Tablets in some cases

  • Laser procedures to improve fluid flow

  • Surgery if the condition is more severe

Since early symptoms are often absent, regular eye check-ups are the best way to detect glaucoma early and prevent vision loss.
