What conditions typically require oral and maxillofacial surgery?

What types of medical or dental conditions usually necessitate oral and maxillofacial surgery? For instance, which issues related to the teeth, jaws, facial bones, or soft tissues are commonly treated with this type of surgery, and how do doctors determine when surgical intervention is necessary?

Jaw surgery, wisdom tooth extraction, facial fractures, tumors, and severe infections are common. Surgeons decide based on scans and failed non-surgical treatments. I got referred by my friend when antibiotics didn’t fix my jaw swelling.

Oral and maxillofacial surgery is usually needed for things like impacted wisdom teeth, jaw misalignment, facial fractures, cysts or tumors, and sometimes severe infections or TMJ problems. Surgeons usually decide based on X-rays, scans, and whether the problem can be managed with normal dental treatment or not.
