After doing some research, I decided to go for SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) because it seemed to be the latest and least invasive procedure.
I chose SNU Eye Clinic in Seoul after hearing great reviews, and I can’t recommend them enough! The entire process was smooth from start to finish. I was initially a little anxious about the surgery, but from the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel incredibly comfortable. The clinic is top-notch in terms of facilities, and the staff spoke excellent English, which helped a lot since my Korean is still a work in progress.
My surgeon was Dr. Chung Eui Sang, who was extremely knowledgeable and patient. He explained everything about the SMILE procedure thoroughly—how it works, what the recovery process would be like, and what to expect after surgery. He answered all my questions without rushing, which helped calm my nerves.
The actual surgery took about 10-15 minutes, and the only discomfort I felt was a little pressure on my eye. There was no pain during or after the surgery, which was a relief. Afterward, I had to rest for a bit in the clinic, and within a few hours, I could see clearly—no glasses, no contacts! It felt surreal.
The recovery was quicker than I expected. I had follow-up appointments with Dr. Chung to monitor my progress, and he reassured me that everything was healing as it should. My vision improved dramatically within a few days, and now, almost a year later, I have 20/20 vision!
Overall, my experience was fantastic, and I’m so happy I chose to do the surgery in Korea at SNU Eye Clinic. If you’re thinking about SMILE surgery, I definitely recommend Dr. Chung Eui Sang and his team! The clinic is trustworthy, professional, and the results speak for themselves.
