How does degenerative arthritis progress over time, and what are the early warning signs?

I’ve been hearing about degenerative arthritis and was wondering how it usually progresses over time. What are some of the early signs people notice, and how does it get worse as time goes on? I’d also like to know when it’s a good idea to get it checked by a doctor.

From my experience, it started pretty subtly with stiffness in the mornings and a bit of swelling after I’d been active for a while. At first, I didn’t think much of it, but over time, the discomfort slowly turned into more noticeable pain.

I learned that it’s basically due to the cartilage in the joints wearing down over time. What really helped me was sticking to low-impact exercises they made a noticeable difference in managing the pain and keeping things more comfortable day to day.
