Ever since getting prosthodontic treatment, I’ve been a bit curious about how to properly maintain it over time. For those with crowns or similar work, what kind of care routine has actually helped keep everything in good shape long term?
For me, keeping up with the basics like brushing, flossing and not skipping the check-ups has made a real difference since I got my implant done. I was a bit unsure at first whether I was doing enough, but the dentist reassured me. Following the aftercare instructions closely has kept things stable.
I had a crown done last year, and at first I was overthinking everything. But my routine is actually pretty normal now. I brush twice a day, floss properly (which I used to skip before) and I try not to chew ice or super hard foods. One thing that made a difference was going for regular cleanings instead of delaying them. It just gives peace of mind that everything is still okay.
From my experience, caring for prosthodontic work isn’t complicated, but it does require more mindfulness. Daily brushing and flossing are important, especially proper technique. Regular dental checkups also help catch small issues early. Avoid habits like nail biting or chewing hard objects, and consider protection if you grind your teeth. In the long run, it’s more about protecting the work you’ve already invested in.
