How long does an autologous tissue rhinoplasty procedure usually take?

I’m thinking about autologous tissue rhinoplasty, and I’m a little nervous about the surgery time. Since it uses my own tissue, I’ve heard it can take longer than regular rhinoplasty. How many hours does it usually last, and does a longer procedure affect recovery.

I’ve heard that, depending on complexity, it typically takes three to six hours. Just removing tissue from the rib takes more time. It doesn’t matter how long you were under anaesthesia healing is more about how your body reacts.

Autologous tissue rhinoplasty usually takes a few hours depending on the complexity. My surgeon told me to expect around 3–4 hours. In my case, it was just over 3 hours total. I was under anesthesia the whole time, so it didn’t feel long at all. Waking up felt like it was over quickly. Recovery was more on my mind afterward.

This type of rhinoplasty is fairly involved, often taking 3–5 hours for the actual surgery plus prep and recovery. I remember the surgery feeling fast because of anesthesia, and the recovery staff made sure I was comfortable before I went home.

This type of rhinoplasty usually takes more time because it involves both tissue harvesting and detailed structural work. Most procedures last several hours, particularly if rib cartilage is used. While healing can be a bit slower, a longer surgery does not automatically mean a more difficult recovery.
